The Role Proofpoint is hiring an Associate Software Engineer on Satori, our enterprise AI agent platform driving the future of autonomous security operations. Satori delivers security outcomes by orchestrating capabilities across the entire Proofpoint product portfolio and external  this application engineering role, you will build features and services on the Satori platform. Your direct users are fellow product engineers who protect business-critical communications for Fortune 100 customers 24/7/365.Responsibilities

Working closely with senior and staff engineers, you will implement components of the agent runtimes and SDKs that product teams build on, and help uphold what "release-ready" means at Proofpoint: the eval suites, safety checks, telemetry, and AuthX that gate every rollout. You will learn how mission-critical agentic software gets built across the company, and you will be responsible for shipping code and helping operate production-grade services.

This is a uniquely-challenging role: we empower small teams to deliver robust results, the systems are non-deterministic, and the bar is high. The opportunity for growth and transformational impact is significant. If this excites you, we want you on our team.

What You Bring to the Team Able to work on-site four days per week at our Belfast office

Experience with designing, developing, and supporting applications in a microservices cloud environment, or entry into the role with a Master's degree.

Personal interest in AI agents — you tinker with agent frameworks or LLM SDKs (Lang Graph, OpenAI/Anthropic Agents SDK, MCP, Lang Chain, or similar) and keep up with the field.

Exposure to agentic or LLM-based systems, and curiosity about the eval, observability, and rollback story that takes them beyond prototypes.

Demonstrated learning velocity and curiosity; driven to understand systems beyond surface-level usage and eager to learn enterprise platform-level tradeoffs

Solid working experience with Python;
Type Script/Node a plus.

Comfortable debugging services and reading logs and traces; exposure to Open Telemetry a plus.

Familiarity with cloud-native development and container systems; AWS experience a plus.

Excellent time management skills and willingness to coordinate work with colleagues in the US and around the globe.

Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, teachable attitude.

A proactive "get it done" attitude and willingness to move forward through uncertainty.

Readiness to participate in on-call rotation during times coordinated with US-based colleagues.

BSc or MSc in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

Beneficial Experience Interest in AI-driven development (e.g. Claude Code, Codex) and agentic communication protocols (e.g. A2A, MCP) preferred.
