Summary:
** Casual Bus Driver - £12.85 per hour (plus 12.06% statutory holiday pay entitlement) For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Neil Hulks, Senior Internal Delivery Officer on or This is a casual, as and when required role, covering for staff absence, sickness, training, and holiday cover.
Applicants MUST have a D1 entitlement on their licence and be available Monday to Friday between 06:45 – 11:00 and 13:45 and 17:30.
• Drive a local authority vehicle between client’s homes, schools, and day centres, ensuring the clients safety and well being in collaboration with the vehicle’s escort/passenger assistant.
• Provide necessary assistance to clients in relation to the safe entry and exit from the vehicles including the operation of tail lifts and ensuring passenger comfort and safety by checking seat belts and wheelchair restraints.
• Reports any issues of concerns regarding the client’s health, well being and safety to the Senior Transport Officer or Charge-hand accordingly whilst always exercising discretion.
• Undertakes to work with co-workers in attending to the personal needs of clients where required.
• Ensures the safe operation of the vehicle in accordance with the Councils Corporate Driving Policy including daily vehicle checks and the accurate and timely reporting of any mechanical defects.
• Maintains accurate and timely vehicle and passenger records.
• Ensures the vehicle is kept clean and tidy, both internally and externally.
• Maintains an awareness and understanding of clients profound learning disabilities, memory impairment, physical disabilities, challenging behaviour etc.
ROLE AND PURPOSE To provide a safe and timely transportation service for the residents of the city who have proven and assessed needs. To provide a dedicated front line service in order to maintain service delivery for a professional and responsive service.
** PRINCIPAL
ACCOUNTABILITIES :
** 1. To promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and/or vulnerable adults.

6. Ensures the safe operation of the vehicle in accordance with the Councils Corporate Driving Policy including daily vehicle checks and the accurate and timely reporting of any mechanical defects.
7. Maintains accurate and daily vehicle checks Driver to ensure all faults are recorded and reported to the Supervisor/Charge Passenger records to be kept up to date and stored in a safe environment when vehicle is not in use.
8. Ensures the vehicle is kept clean and tidy, both internally and externally.
9. Maintains an awareness and understanding of clients profound learning disabilities, memory impairment, physical disabilities, challenging behaviour etc.
