Construction employee, specifications and bills of quantities
ResponsibilitiesAs an architectural specifications and bill of quantities assistant, you will be responsible for drawing up, supplementing and checking specifications and bills of quantities to support the project architects.
Based on plans and technical documentation, you will select the necessary products, materials, components and labour requirements needed to realise the construction project. You will provide clear descriptions, dimensions and quantities so that the client or contractor can make a detailed cost calculation. You will use a product database (specification type) for this purpose. If a product is not available, you will work with the Project Architect to find suitable alternatives: you will contact manufacturers for product presentations or to request technical specifications.
You check whether the project or parts of the project comply with the applicable standards.
In collaboration with the various disciplines (Stability, Techniques, Architecture, etc.), you ensure that all building materials and products are correctly documented.
You will help the team to keep the product database up to date. You will critically assess the relevance and innovation of new products.
You verify that the data in Revit is correct so that the correct quantities are obtained. You export the quantities from Revit to generate a bill of quantities. Where necessary, you supplement the bill of quantities with manual measurements.
You do not need to be an expert in Revit, but you do need sufficient knowledge to recognise errors in the plans and correct them or report them to the BIM team.
- You work accurately, in a structured manner and have an eye for detail.
- You communicate clearly and assertively about quality standards and specification requirements.
- You are a team player and work well with colleagues from different disciplines (architects, structural and technical engineers, BIM specialists).
- You identify ambiguities or errors in a timely and constructive manner.
- You have a degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture or equivalent through experience.
- Several years of experience as a project architect, in a BIM environment or in a contractor’s tendering department is an advantage.
- You have thorough knowledge of construction techniques and insight into materials and implementation methods.
- You are familiar with the relevant standards for the Brussels and Walloon Regions or are able to quickly look them up, interpret them and apply them.
- Knowledge of CCTB specifications is required; knowledge of VMSW specifications is an asset.
- A multidisciplinary team to work with on challenging projects.
- The dynamics of a small practice within the structure of a large agency.
- Fun, lots of fun at our teambuilding sessions, architecture cafes and architectural trips.
- Opportunities for personal growth including an annual training budget.
- A full-time, permanent contract with a competitive pay package including fringe benefits (fixed salary, 20 + 12 days of leave, group insurance, meal vouchers, net expense allowance, etc.) or a freelance agreement of indefinite duration.
- Easily accessible offices + mobility solutions such as shared cars and folding bikes.
- Attention to a healthy work-life balance.
