Function

As Operational Support Analyst – Network Planning
, you play a key role in the operational processes of the Grid Development (GD) department. Teamwork is fundamental to this role as the successful candidate is required to work closely with engineers and other departments.

You provide technical and technical-administrative support in the conducting of grid development studies. These studies enable us to anticipate technical problems (voltage quality, overloads, short circuits, etc.) and identify the need for reinforcement of the grid or adaptation of operational practices. The ultimate goal is to guarantee a reliable energy supply for the Belgian market, taking customers’ and the community’s expectations into account.

You main responsibilities:

Technical support for grid studies

  • Preparing grid models using Power Factory, incorporating:

    • Data from distribution system operators (DSOs);
    • Customer load profiles;
    • Planned project commissioning.
  • Performing grid calculations, working with experts to analyse the results and summarising these in reports.
  • Consolidating and documenting projects arising from studies (e.g. single-line diagrams), ensuring they are consistent with other ongoing or future studies.
  • Sharing information about new infrastructure with operational departments to anticipate short-term impact.

Management of external requests

  • Monitoring generic mailboxes: receipt, initial analysis and forwarding of requests (short-circuit calculations, CAPAC and EOS connections).
  • Ultimately, independent processing of requests for simple connection to the transmission system (EOS).

Technical-administrative support

  • Participating in the encoding and updating of projects in Jira, which links grid development needs to projects in our portfolio.
  • Using this tool to produce reports and, once experience has been gained, to scrutinise the data and ensure its quality.
  • Coordinating the updating of national single-line diagrams.
  • Providing ad hoc support to the team to cover various technical-administrative tasks.
Your Profile
  • A bachelor’s degree with a technical/IT orientation (data management, electricity, statistics…) or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in French or Dutch; knowledge of the other national language is an asset
  • Comfortable with IT tools and good command of MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio…)
  • Ability to read a single-line electrical diagram
  • Ability to work independently, conduct research autonomously, and ask questions when necessary
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Customer-oriented, autonomous, flexible, and a team player
  • Experience in the energy sector is a plus
  • Knowledge of IT tools related to electrical network management (e.g., Power Factory, Jira) and familiarity with data management tools (especially Microsoft Excel, Power

    BI, Python, SQL) is an asset.
