Staff Platform Engineer, EU – Ashby

Join us as a Staff Platform Engineer delivering reliable, scalable infrastructure for the Ashby platform. You’ll be part of a small, independent infra team that builds solutions for a fast‑growing hiring‑software company used by customers such as Notion, Linear, Shopify, and Snowflake.

• Optimize our home‑grown, ultra‑dynamic recruiting DSL‑to‑SQL compiler and create tools to help developers use it.
• Create automated guardrails for the security and privacy of our customer data.
• Help our developers ship features fast through canary deploys, gradual rollouts and feature flags, keeping complexity manageable and downtime low.
• Work with the business and engineering team to define SLOs and implement the corresponding SLIs.
• Ensure all external‑service communications support retries and circuit‑breakers.
• Implement the infrastructure to support an event‑driven architecture and a data warehouse.

• Deep passion for infrastructure, reliability, and security.
• Strong coding skills; experience writing production‑grade code in Typescript, Node.js, or similar.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud infra (AWS), monitoring (Datadog), and error reporting (Sentry).
• Experience setting up and improving an SRE stack with automated provisioning, CI/CD, and observability.
• Willingness to own projects end‑to‑end, communicate asynchronously, and drive decision‑making.
• Comfort with SQL and data‑model optimization.
• Ability to work independently and deliver projects without frequent manager oversight.

• You hate SQL and resist making it part of your workflow.
