** About the Role
** We’re looking for a Resident Service Engineer to support Skechers! One of the global leaders in sports shoes, at their facility in the Liège (Luik) region of Belgium.
As a Resident Service Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining Packsize equipment, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction. You will also conduct start-up testing, provide end-user training, and serve as a key technical point of contact for the customer.
This position requires a creative problem-solver with strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems. You’ll also need excellent communication skills to explain product features and maintenance procedures to a variety of stakeholders.
** What You’ll Do
*** Install, configure, and commission automated packaging systems at the customer site
* Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and corrective repairs on mechanical, electrical, and software components
* Provide hands-on training to customer personnel on equipment operation, safety procedures, and routine maintenance
* Monitor, manage, and report on spare parts usage and stock levels to ensure service readiness
* Respond promptly to technical issues and service requests, minimizing equipment downtime
* Document service activities, findings, and solutions in a clear and timely manner
* Maintain regular communication with internal teams (engineering, product support, customer service) to share insights and improve system performance
* Contribute to the creation and improvement of technical documentation, training materials, and service manuals
** What you’ll Bring
*** Electrically qualified professional with over 5 years of hands-on experience in troubleshooting and maintaining complex electro-mechanical systems, backed by a strong electromechanical background
* Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with a customer-first mindset.
* Skilled in the use of mechanical and electrical hand tools; able to read technical schematics and wiring diagrams
* Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, automation, and/or packaging technology is a strong plus
* Comfortable working independently, managing your own time and tasks with minimal supervision
* Familiar with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); experience with reporting tools or service software is a bonus
* Fluent in Dutch or French; able to communicate effectively in English (spoken and written)
* Based in or near the Liège/Luik region
** What’s nice to have
*** Previous experience as a Resident Engineer or in a customer-facing field service role
* Familiarity with automated packaging systems or industrial automation equipment
* Basic knowledge of PLC systems (e.g., Siemens or Allen-Bradley) and industrial sensors
* Experience with technical documentation, reporting, or digital service tools
* Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel occasionally for training or support
