As a safety Lead:
The Engineering & Property Services (E&PS) department is the backbone of our critical infrastructure, leading all aspects of the design, operation, and maintenance of buildings, HVAC systems, utilities, and installations across our sites in Belgium. From centralized production and distribution systems to chemical and pharmaceutical production and R&D facilities.
Our mission at E&PS is to safely manage the infrastructure lifecycle with reliability, sustainability, and efficiency. We strive to build an outstanding workplace experience while contributing to the global Facilities organization through knowledge sharing and expertise.
Within E&PS Belgium, we are looking for a Safety Lead who will work for our Belgian sites and ensure compliance with safety procedures, identify risks, coordinate preventive measures, and elevate safety awareness to the next level.
About Your Tasks and ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities and the impact
YOU will have:
- Ensure a safe and healthy work environment
by enforcing compliance with safety procedures and implementing legislation and internal guidelines. - Identify risks and coordinate preventive measures
, including managing and optimizing work permits, personal protective equipment (PPE), and risk assessments. - Lead and coordinate activities of internal and external experts
to ensure consistency and compliance with safety objectives. - Lead the prevention committee
and follow up on action items. - Organize and conduct safety inspections, audits, investigations, and workshops.
- Act as the central point of contact and Subject Matter Expert
for occupational safety within E&PS Belgium. - Develop, manage, and report on the safety policy and annual action plan
, including KPIs and status updates. - Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
, such as management, EHS teams, social partners, and government authorities. - Support safety platforms and systems
(e.g., Curve, Enablon) and contribute to continuous improvement of safety processes. - Promote safety awareness
through communication, training, and employee coaching. - Analyze incidents and “good saves,”follow up on corrective actions, and provide support during investigations.
- Prepare and guide inspections by external authorities
and ensure compliance with legal obligations. - Support contractor management
, including coordination and achieving safety objectives.
We would love to hear from YOU, if you have the following essential requirements:
- Master’s degree in a technical or safety-related field, or equivalent through experience.
- Certified Prevention Advisor Level 2.
- Safety Coordinator certification is an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a highly regulated environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage and align diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in the chemical, pharmaceutical, or other highly regulated industries.
- Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English, spoken and written.
