At imec, we embrace the motto, ‘Embracing a better life,’ by driving innovations in nanoelectronics. Our cutting-edge chips power high-tech solutions that enhance healthcare, ensure safer transportation, foster sustainable energy, and more. Simply put, a better world starts with the technology we create in our cleanroom.
In the TEM team of the material characterization and analysis department at imec, we harness an array of specialized physical and chemical methods to support our advanced semiconductor device development. As a TEM Specialist, you will be at the forefront of this innovation, executing and analysing TEM requests that characterize our CMORE (MEMS, actuators, sensors…) and Core (Logic, Memory, Interconnect, 3D…) technologies.
you will do
For this temporary position as TEM development engineer you will be a part of the team that provides a detail-oriented TEM service will prepare TEM samples, using focused ion beam (FIB) resulting in a thin specimen, observe these in the transmission electron microscope, analyze the samples based on scientific questions that are linked to the development of our advanced pilot line.
You will analyze, the results and generate a comprehensive report that allows the process teams to use these observations to advance their development work.
After an extensive training period you will gradually get involved in projects to optimise the TEM service (operationally and technically) and will learn more novel TEM techniques to further support the learning cycles of imec.
Diverse Range of Tasks- Become an expert in SEM/TEM inspections, staying up to date with the current evolutions of the tools, focusing particularly on semiconductor materials.
- You analyse and execute TEM requests for new process developments in collaboration with the internal or external customer.
- You prepare TEM samples using various methods with FIB/SEM dual beam tools.
- You define which TEM techniques are needed, execute and compose comprehensive reports of the results.
- You are responsible for high quality and efficient first-timeright execution.
- You connect with the Hardware and Engineering teams to minimize operational department issues.
- You transfer processes from the R&D stage to the pilot production line in collaboration with researchers and TEM process engineers or assistants.
