Elia Group is driving the decade of electrification, accelerating the energy transition and adapting to new consumption behaviours. Elia Group is building an operations team for the new Elia Digital Platform (EDP). The EDP Platform is a service oriented, cloud-native platform that is being built to provide application teams with self-service capabilities to develop, run and operate their software products. EDP Platform provides services for application infrastructure, data, service lifecycle management, application build and delivery as well as services to operate their software products.
The EDP Platform is deployed as a hybrid cloud, encompassing both private cloud and select public clouds. The EDP BE operations team will focus on the operational tasks for Elia Transmission Belgium’s private cloud.
The team is now looking for a Dev Ops Cloud engineer.
As Dev Ops Cloud engineer
, you’ll streamline developer workflows on the EDP platform by reducing overhead and automating tasks, allowing developers to focus on business logic. You will provide tools across five key product clusters: the Collaboration Suite (Jira, Confluence), Code Build (CI for automation and source management), Deployment (CD with Kubernetes and based on ArgoCD and Harness), Security & Compliance (Aqua Sec, Sonar), and the Dev Ops Portal, which serves as a self-service hub based on Backstage.io
for interacting with all DOE (Dev Ops enablement) products and EDP services.
Scope of responsibilities:
- As Dev Ops cloud Enablement (DOE) Engineer you will be our application project key contact. You must be able to function in a virtual, cross-functional team as the ambassador for the EDP project. Ensures development methodologies are aligned to the EDP project principles, standards and implementation.
- Automate build and deployment processes, including the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines for development, testing and deployment of containers.
- Implement observability solutions to monitor application health, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Implement and follow-up on policies, compliance and image and container security.
- Help establish an operations team comprised of internal and external employees. Work collaboratively with other members of the team, infrastructure teams, and others. Work with the delivery team for the operationalization of CI/CD and IaC/gitops processes.
- Reinforce our operations: executing service requests, handle incidents and follow-up on problems
- Contribute to the platforms documentation and share knowledge.
- Contribute to the development of the DOE products with a focus on reliability and stability.
Technical skills
- Experience with operating services on top of Kubernetes / hyperscaler platforms
- Fundamental understanding of core operations processes (incident management, change management, problem management, IT Service Management)
- Must have extensive hands‑on Dev Ops toolchain knowledge (Jira, Gitlab, Backstage, ArgoCD, Harness, Harbor, JFrog Artifactory, Kaniko)
- Experience with automation, infrastructure as code and/or gitOps
- Good understanding of networking concepts, including protocols, load balancing, and security
- Security operations (Aqua Sec, Sonar)
- Monitoring and observability (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk)
