Quality Engineer

Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant was founded in 2008 and currently employs more than 160 staff members. It is a unique and open innovation pilot and demonstration facility for process development, scale-up and custom manufacturing of biobased products and processes from lab to multi ton scale. A wide and flexible spectrum of modular unit operations combined with a team of highly trained and experienced engineers and bioprocess technicians facilitates the translation of biobased laboratory processes into viable industrial processes.

To date, Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant has successfully performed 500+ projects on a bilateral basis with 200+ companies from all over the world. It was/is also involved in more than 50 consortium-based public projects.

Your main task will be to assist in the preparation and follow up of new food biotech projects: you will coordinate the HACCP study to ensure that the pilot runs can be conducted in a food-grade manner and you will follow up the pilot run from a QA viewpoint, including communication with the customer.

In addition, you will help to implement, follow up, maintain and improve the Quality and Food Safety Management Systems
, so that internal and external audits run smoothly.

You perform administrative support tasks in the context of Quality and Food Safety Management Systems, such as: document management; maintenance of CAPA system; monitoring of KPIs; organization of inspections, training and audits; management review; supplier quality management.

You apply the food safety and quality system requirements on the work floor and help monitor compliance with these standards.

You work closely together with colleagues from different departments and collaborate with QA engineer colleagues under the guidance of the QA manager.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a nutritional orientation or in chemical/biological bio-engineering sciences.
• Knowledge of or experience with HACCP, FSSC 22000, ISO 9001 or other GFSI accredited standards.
• Experience in conducting internal audits and inspections is a plus.
• Diligent, accurate, pragmatic, detail-oriented, and driven by continuous improvement and innovation.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Fluency in Dutch and English.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
