About the Role

Hi, I’m Abhik, Ashby’s Co-Founder and VP of Engineering. We’re looking for an ambitious full-stack engineer who is laser-focused on solving customer problems and making long-term investments to support future features and products.

Ashby offers a blend of early and growth-stage environments: you write product specs, make product and design decisions, and build with a lightweight meeting culture, while also experiencing product-market fit and scale with tens of thousands of daily users depending on your software.

We have notable customers like Notion, Linear, Shopify, and Snowflake. Our growth and retention metrics are best-in-class: tens of millions in ARR, >100% year over year growth, very low churn, and substantial runway. Details will be shared after we meet.

This role is frequently posted as we continue expanding the team, and we’re on track to double this year. We are exploring software to support Talent Acquisition and building products beyond Talent Acquisition. We read every application and aim to respond within 3–4 days (often sooner).

I started my career building software for artists in the Visual Effects industry. Success relied on my ability to be a product manager and designer: talking to users, designing interfaces, prototyping ideas, and iterating based on feedback. There were no daily stand-ups, no t-shirt sizing, and no planning meetings.

I studied computer science to solve problems, not tickets, and this perspective fueled creativity and ownership. We’re building an environment at Ashby that is optimistic about what engineers can own and achieve.

At Ashby, a Product Engineer takes end-to-end ownership of a large portion of a product, researching competitors, writing product specs, creating wireframes, and more. Example outcomes for product engineers at Ashby include:

• Designed and built automated interview scheduling to calculate possible times from a pool of interviewers and constraints, presenting options to candidates via a responsive web app.
• Built a generalized declarative filter architecture that creates complex filters for any record with a consistent UI and compiles to SQL in the backend.
• Spec’d, designed, and implemented a feature for completing signing offers entirely within Ashby, including customer interviews, technology decisions, prototyping, and integration with other features.

We want tooling that helps engineers do their best work. Scheduling the final round is an example where teams can schedule faster, track interviewer preparation and quality, and manage interviews with varying headcount and training needs. We aim to provide high-quality tools that empower TA teams and beyond.

We focus on talent acquisition and software that offers insights, automation, and powerful abstractions to support the team. We emphasize building software that can be used across functions and departments.
