Building Inspector

Overview

Reporting to the Chief Building Official, the Building Inspector will perform inspections related to the construction of homes, sheds, decks, etc. to ensure compliance with adopted codes. We're looking for someone who can demonstrate a commitment to the Bella Vista community and who desires to keep our homeowners safe through excellent inspection work.

The City of Bella Vista offers an excellent benefits package effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment.

Work hours: Monday - Friday / 7:00am - 3:30 pm with 30 minute lunch.

Training is available for this position.

• Conducts on-site inspections of properties for compliance with city codes.
• Communicates code deficiencies.
• Prepares and maintains records of inspections.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must possess attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to learn city recordkeeping system.
• Ability to accurately enter notes into recordkeeping system.
• Ability to read, or learn to read building plans.
• Ability to learn & interpret codes adopted by the city.
• Must be able to climb ladders & stairs.
• Must be capable of navigating various terrains.
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

• High school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED).
• Construction experience and/or knowledge of the construction industry desired.
• Prior experience as a Building Inspector a plus but not required.
• Will provide training to achieve inspector certifications.
• Current certifications are a plus but not required.
