Medical Assistant
Townsen Physician Group is looking for a full-time Medical Assistant to join our team in Bellaire, TX.
SummaryThe Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting a positive patient experience by performing administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of the physician or nurse manager and will assist the physician in scribing patient notes.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate customer service standards (e.g., smiles, eye contact, greeting each patient and visitor, appropriate body language).
- Work efficiently and complete tasks thoroughly to optimize patient flow while maintaining quality and patient/provider satisfaction.
- Escort patients to exam rooms, conduct interviews, measure vital signs, and document all information in the patient's chart.
- Confirm patient’s DOB and full name, review reason for visit and date of injury.
- Provide education and directions regarding medication and treatment plans as instructed by the physician or physician assistant.
- Maintain patient charts, ensuring all reports, labs, and information are filed and available in the medical records.
- Complete necessary forms such as disability and FMLA forms.
- Complete parking placard and/or license plate form.
- Perform Urine Toxicology (UTOX) testing and evaluate results.
- Call in for patient prescription refills.
- Complete op‑notes and ensure accuracy of patient documents and scribe notes.
- Keep exam rooms clean and stocked with adequate medical supplies.
- Respond to e‑mails, telephone calls, and inquiries; take telephone messages.
- Communicate and document status updates regarding patient and treatment plans.
- Use downtime efficiently and assist team members when needed.
- Protect patient privacy rights and maintain confidentiality of records per policy, procedure, and HIPAA.
- Follow all safety rules and report accidents promptly.
- Travel to other facilities as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to distinguish color for interpreting toxicology reports.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Adaptability and flexibility.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- Maintain effective and organized systems for patient flow.
- Professional and polished patient interaction skills.
- Strong customer service and phone etiquette.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and E‑Clinical.
- Energetic and motivated to learn new skills.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Six months of experience in a medical office setting.
