The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR related duties on a professional level and works closely with HR Management. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas:
Human Resources Information System (HRIS), hiring & recruiting, benefits, payroll, employee relations, training & development, workers compensation, unemployment, performance management, and policy enforcement.
- Enforces human resource policies, practices and procedures. Assists in Annual Handbook Review updates.
- Responsible for Completion of Employment Verification Requests.
- Utilizes Human Resources Information System (HRIS), in addition to monitoring timekeeping practices for non-exempt personnel (time clocks and mobile).
- Assists with payroll preparation to ensure completion in an accurate and timely manner (prior to outsourced vendor processing). This includes entering wages changes, garnishments, tax changes, benefit deduction changes, etc. are entered into the system accurately and timely.
- Reviews/audits applicable invoices and approves per the Accounts Payable Approval Process (Staffing Agency Invoices, Group Health Insurance and other benefit related invoices, etc.).
- Organizes and coordinates recruiting process (Create job postings, manage internal and external postings, coordinate and schedule interviews, administer assessments, extend offers, pre-screening, and prepare new hire paperwork, etc.). Assists in creating and coordinating schedules of onboarding plans for applicable positions.
- Oversees day-to-day contact with Staffing Agencies. Works with hiring managers in relation to their need for temporary associates.
- Administrative tasks such as performing background checks, filing paperwork, completing employee documentation, recording data on each current employee; maintaining and filing paperwork of terminated or exiting employees, etc.
- Provides employee relations support for employees and managers, including resolving issues. Assists in preparation of Disciplinary & Termination Documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
- Assists with scheduling/coordination of Training.
- Assists with management of workers compensation and unemployment claims.
- Assists with employee benefits programs; assists with preparation and coordination of annual employee insurance renewal meetings; provides benefits information to new hires; processes enrollments of new hires and annual open enrollment changes; assists in the processing of benefit claims.
- Prepares & maintains OSHA 300 recordkeeping requirements in relation to HR components, in addition to assistance in preparation of safety council rebate requirements.
- Monitors departmental human resource records per the filing and retrieval system (electronic and paper format).
- Maintains current working knowledge of compliance and regulatory concerns, industry trends, and best HR practices.
- Maintains confidentiality in regards to sensitive information, records/files, etc.
- Coordinates HR projects such as meetings or surveys.
- Ongoing involvement in 401k Committee.
- Represents the Company at community and recruiting events.
Knowledge of principles and best practices for recruitment and selection required.
