Driver - CDL; B

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

A Driver- CDL (B) is responsible for safely operating a collection truck, and providing prompt, courteous and complete waste removal services for customers. The driver ensures the vehicle is in compliance with safety standards prior to operation, adheres to all Company, state and federal regulations, and completes vehicle condition reports (VCRs) daily to ensure timely repairs.

• Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle in accordance with Company policy, ensuring tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order. Report safety issues on standard reports.
• Safely operate the heavy truck along the designated route to the disposal site; read route sheets, follow maps and service each customer as identified on the route sheet or as assigned by the dispatcher or supervisor.
• Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse, operate the compactor and dispose of collected material at the designated facility, in accordance with Company safety policies and procedures.
• Courteously interact with customers, dispatchers and others daily to ensure routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers as required by departmental procedures.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
• Clean areas around any accidental waste spill, adhering to all applicable safety standards and policies.
• Monitor the vehicle condition to ensure it is operationally ready at all times; clean waste from the packer blade and truck body as appropriate on each disposal trip.
• Complete required route/productivity sheets, VCRs and other reports as required.
• Maintain adherence to productivity standards to ensure timely and efficient customer service.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Actively participate in the Company’s ReSOP program.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
• Provide good customer service to meet and exceed customer expectations; maintain a professional, courteous and cooperative demeanor toward customers and co-workers; act with honesty and trustworthiness.
• Demonstrate good time management to complete responsibilities efficiently and safely.
• Follow through on tasks and adapt to challenges as they arise; adhere to Company policies and rules and promote safety standards.
• Maintain pride in work and strive to achieve goals.

• Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s license with air brakes endorsement.
