Role DescriptionThis is a part-time or fractional, on‑site Controller role based in Belleville, ON. The Controller will oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations fulfilled by an on‑site Accountant. This role will prepare month‑end and year‑end close processes, analyze financial statements, monitor cash flow, manage budgeting and forecasting, and provide regular financial reporting and insights to leadership. The Controller will ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, tax and regulatory requirements, and support audits and external reporting as needed.
The role also involves partnering with operations and leadership to improve financial processes, support pricing and profitability analysis, and implement best practices for financial management within a logistics and warehousing environment.
- Strong financial accounting and reporting skills, including general ledger management, reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cash flow management to support data‑driven decision‑making.
- Knowledge of internal controls, audit support, and compliance with relevant tax, regulatory, and accounting standards (e.g., ASPE or IFRS).
- Proficiency with accounting and ERP software, advanced Excel skills, and comfort working with data and financial models.
- Background in logistics, warehousing, distribution, or related industries is an asset, including familiarity with cost allocation and inventory accounting.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize in a part‑time or fractional capacity.
- Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with leadership, operations, and external partners.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) preferred; relevant post‑secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Proven experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accountant, ideally in a small to mid‑size or growth‑focused organization.
- Ability to work on‑site in Belleville, ON, and maintain a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and ethical judgment.
