Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board is now accepting applications for:

Secondary Occasional Teachers- HOPE Alternative Program

In the spirit of reconciliation and in alignment with Truth and Reconciliation Call to Action #10, HPEDSB is looking for dedicated occasional teachers for the HOPE(
Haudenosaunee Opportunities for Personalized Education
)program. Funded and hosted by the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte, this program removes systemic barriers by fostering community responsibility and integrating Indigenous ways of knowing and doing. While the physical work location is the Ohahase Education Centre, Teachers working at this location will report to the Administration of Eastside Secondary School. The Ohahase Education Centre is located at 1825 York Road, Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.

Requirements

To honour the request of our community partners, applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • MBQ registered band membership or Haudenosaunee ancestry.
  • Registration with another Indigenous nation.
  • A committed non-Indigenous ally with verified extensive experience and established relationships within the local Indigenous community.
All Candidates Must Also Possess
  • Demonstrated knowledge of local history and cultural protocols.
  • A deep commitment to reconciliation in an educational context.
  • Lived experience or extensive experience teaching in a Haudenosaunee environment.
  • In Good Standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.
  • Ontario College of Teachers Divisional Qualifications suitable for Secondary.
  • Applicants who receive an offer of employment will be required to provide a vulnerable sector criminal background check that is dated within six (6) months of their start date.
