Position: Property - Building Maintenance Worker (Quinte West)
Location: Quinte West

Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

SUMMARY

The Building Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing general indoor and outdoor maintenance at the terminal location. This role ensures that the facility, equipment, and surrounding areas remain in good condition, meet safety standards, and operate efficiently.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct daily inspections and document required maintenance and security concerns.
  • Perform general building maintenance according to the Procedures Manual set out by the Terminal Manager.
  • Assist with the maintenance and repairs of Erb’s buildings, equipment, and tools, including landscaping, vehicles, generators, lifting equipment, and other facility‑related assets.
  • Maintain and submit daily and weekly reports.
  • Address and follow up on monthly Health & Safety Committee inspection items.
  • Ensure entrances, exits, and all facility areas are clean, clear, and free of hazards.
  • Obtain quotes for materials and hardware needed for repairs and communicate major repairs and purchases with the Terminal Manager.
  • Perform facility cleaning tasks at terminal and drop yard.
  • Assist in snow removal operations, including use of loaders, snow scrapers, pick‑ups, salt spreaders, and shovels to clear walkways, entrances, exits, and parking areas.
  • Maintain terminal grounds, including garbage collection, grass cutting, and trimming; regularly empty garbage and recycling bins.
  • Perform pre‑trip inspections on all equipment before use and report any deficiencies.
  • Assist with administrative duties such as filing, ordering parts and supplies, scheduling external maintenance services, and conducting research as required.
  • Support the Yard Supervisor in maintaining HVAC, warehouse refrigeration, gate, forklifts, and other equipment.
  • Assist in training new employees on facility maintenance procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
  • One (1) year of experience in general building and yard equipment repairs.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in terms of importance.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs. or more, shovel, work on ladders, etc.
  • Ability to perform repairs such as caulking, painting, replacing light fixtures, etc.
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Monitor emails and phone calls during work hours.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Hourly based on 40 hours of work. Hours may vary, and overtime may be required. Ability to work indoors, outdoors, in cold storage, freezer, and other environments. On‑call to assist with cooling/heating issues.
