CASUAL LABOURER – FACILITIES
Position Type: Temporary Full Time (approximately September 2026 – May 2027)
Number of Positions: One (1)
Department: Community Services Department – Property & Facilities Division

Location: Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre (QSWC – 265 Cannifton Road, Belleville)
Hours: 40 hours per week; varied shifts
Term of Employment: Up to 200 days in a 12‑month period
Employee Group: Union – CUPE
Salary: $25.15 per hour, plus $1.85 shift premium where applicable
Closing Date: July 13, 2026 at 4:30 PM
Purpose and ScopeReporting directly to the Facilities Supervisors, the Casual Labourer will be responsible for maintenance and repairs to various buildings and structures with a focus on external building repairs, drywall repairs and painting.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities- Operate city vehicles and equipment as required.
- Operate various construction equipment and machinery.
- Maintain building cleanliness and sanitation including lobbies, washrooms, hallways, meeting rooms and the outside perimeter of the building(s).
- Operate non-power tools (e.g., hand saw, bolt cutters, etc.).
- Perform preventive building maintenance duties such as drywall, plumbing and electrical repairs.
- Repair holes in walls and paint interior and exterior walls.
- Work independently and as a part of a team.
- Undertake other duties as assigned, in support of the City and Departmental objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid full class G Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
- Ability to work in a variety of conditions and perform physical labour.
- Experience in building maintenance and repairs.
- Candidates are required to have their own safety boots.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Customer service experience.
- General knowledge of plumbing and electrical an asset.
- Pool and custodial experience considered an asset.
