Electronics Manufacturing Subject Matter Expert
Location: Belleville, Ontario

Compensation: $100,000–$130,000 annually

Position SummaryLumentis Group is seeking an experienced Electronics Manufacturing Subject Matter Expert to support the development and expansion of its electronics manufacturing capabilities.
This position will provide technical leadership across electronics manufacturing, with a primary focus on the implementation and operation of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) assembly processes and equipment
.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the complete manufacturing process, including defining equipment and process requirements, sourcing and selecting SMT assembly equipment, supporting installation and commissioning, launching equipment into production, and ultimately providing operational leadership for the SMT manufacturing function.
The role will work closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Program Management, Supply Chain, Maintenance, equipment suppliers and external technology partners to establish reliable, repeatable and scalable electronics manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities SMT Manufacturing & Equipment Implementation- Lead the development and implementation of Surface Mount Technology manufacturing capability.
- Define process and equipment requirements for SMT assembly operations.
- Develop technical specifications for new manufacturing equipment.
- Evaluate and recommend SMT equipment, suppliers and system integrators.
- Participate in equipment sourcing, supplier selection and capital-equipment justification.
- Coordinate equipment installation, commissioning and production readiness.
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
- Establish manufacturing parameters, process controls and production standards.
- Ensure equipment achieves required capacity, cycle time, quality and reliability targets.
- Support production ramp-up and resolve equipment or process issues during launch.
- Provide technical expertise for electronics and PCBA manufacturing processes.
- Support and optimize processes involving:
- Reflow soldering
- Automated Optical Inspection (AOI)
- Electrical and functional testing
- PCB and PCBA assembly
- Electronic subassemblies
- Component handling and traceability
- Identify opportunities to improve yield, throughput, quality and equipment performance.
- Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of manufacturing defects and process failures.
- Develop standardized work, process documentation and operating procedures.
- Work with Product Engineering and Program Management to transition new electronic products from design into production.
- Participate in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews.
- Review product designs for manufacturing feasibility.
- Support prototype and pre-production builds.
- Identify process, equipment and manufacturing risks during product development.
- Support design freeze, equipment kickoff and production-readiness activities.
- Ensure manufacturing processes are capable of supporting program timing, validation and launch requirements.
- Support engineering changes and product modifications after launch.
- Support manufacturing processes in accordance with applicable automotive quality standards and customer requirements.
