The Tech StackOpenAI and other large language models (LLMs), React
JS, Node, Typescript, Mongo, Docker, AWS, CDK
- Work as part of a distributed team in a fast‑paced environment, identifying opportunities to make impactful enhancements to lawyer workflows
- Design, architect, and implement new features in the Spellbook application
- Use the latest LLMs from OpenAI, Anthropic, and other providers to add and improve application functionality such as providing customers with review suggestions they can use to improve their documents
- Collaborate with product management on changes to our React application to improve customer experience
- Add and improve application functionality by improving our Express and tRPC based API
- Improve the performance and reliability of existing functionality and address user feedback through bug fixes
- Build and maintain application infrastructure in Amazon Web Services (AWS) with AWS CDK
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members
- Other responsibilities as required
- 5+ years of experience in Software Development
- Exceptional communication skills, able to explain and advocate ideas to a diverse audience
- Ability to take a product feature from abstract idea to production‑ready, deployed to customers
- Self‑starter and problem solver, motivated by curiosity and continuous improvement
- Team player who helps Spellbook succeed, eager to fix things and improve team work
- Firm grasp of software development fundamentals and computer engineering
- Ability to break complex customer requirements into clear, achievable plans and ship product features quickly
- Experience with Type Script
- Experience with JavaScript build tooling such as Vite, esbuild, and swc
- Experience in small startup environments
- Experience designing and building infrastructure on AWS in CDK
- Proven experience driving new and innovative product features from concept to production
- Demonstrated ability working with LLMs, improving prompts, and orchestrating agents
