Overview
IMSA is committed to equity and excellence, including the active recruitment of students from all areas of Illinois. IMSA’s PROMISE Program addresses the unique challenges of culturally, linguistically, and economically diverse (CLED) students who have an interest in STEM education by providing academic enrichment programming at low to no cost. This grant‑funded program is open to all students, especially Black or African American students, Latinx students, students who qualify for the national free or reduced‑price meal program, as well as students from rural Illinois counties.
Belleville Campus
Currently, we are seeking a Program Assistant for the Spring 2026 PROMISE Program which serves non‑IMSA students currently enrolled in the 7th grade
. The program will run on 8 designated Saturday sessions.
Program Dates and Details:
- Expected work hours are Saturdays 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM as well as additional dates/times (TBD) for program preparations
- Maximum number of participants:
- 7th Grade: 50
- Session Dates:
- February 28–Parent Orientation
- March 7
- March 14
- March 21
- March 28
- April 11
- April 18
- April 25
Program
Schedule:
- Three 50‑minute classes each session consisting of approximately 17 students per class.
- Schedule:
- Class 1: 9:00 AM – 9:50 AM
- Class 2: 10:05 AM – 10:55 AM
- Class 3: 11:10 AM – 12:00 PM
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Attend all scheduled Saturday program sessions, including orientation
- Supervision duties begin the moment the first tutor arrives until the last student departs at the conclusion of the program
- Provide support during each session: check in, classroom setup, transitions, etc.
- Attend all preparation meetings such as tutor training
- Assist Program Manager in gathering materials as needed
- Serve as liaison with parents regarding safety, security, or emotional concerns as needed
- Evaluate program effectiveness to develop improved methods
- All other duties as assigned
This position pays $20.00 per hour. This position is not benefits eligible.
