Medical laboratory jobs involve performing tests on bodily fluids, tissues, and cells to help physicians diagnose, treat, and monitor diseases and illnesses. Professionals in this field operate and maintain sophisticated lab equipment, ensure quality control, analyze test results, record data, and communicate findings to healthcare providers. Assumes responsibility for the performance of routine, standardized biological and/or biochemical tests, as well as more complex procedures on blood, urine, tissues, body fluids and other specimens that assist physicians in the diagnosis of clinical management of clinical management of patients.

Assumes responsibility of recognizing results or problems that require referral to Supervisor, Manager and or Pathologist. Performs additional tasks as requested by Chairman of Pathology or his/her designee.

• Baccalaureate degree in medical technology or sciences
• Knowledge of specialized principles or techniques, which would normally be obtained through a formal four-year college/university academic program
• Registry with a recognized board of registry for medical technology, such as American Society of Clinical Pathologists preferred.

• Occasional lifting of moderately heavy objects weighing up to 20 pounds
• Well- lighted, sometimes poorly ventilated and intermittently noisy environment,

• Frequently works with infectious biological materials, stains, caustic, toxic and noxious agents,
• Occasional potential for electrical shock and laceration,
