Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, month-end close activities, account reconciliations, and financial analysis for a portfolio of senior living communities. This role works closely with General Managers, Regional Operations, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Corporate Finance to ensure

• Prepare and review monthly financial statements for assigned communities.
• Complete month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reclasses, and account reconciliations.
• Analyze financial results and investigate variances between actual, budget, and prior-year performance.
• Ensure financial reporting deadlines are met accurately and timely.
• Maintain general ledger integrity and adherence to accounting policies.

• Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, intercompany accounts, and other general ledger accounts.
• Research and resolve discrepancies and outstanding reconciling items.
• Review prepaid expenses, fixed assets, deposits, and accrued liabilities.

• Partner with community General Manager to review financial performance and provide accounting guidance.
• Support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, and cash management processes.
• Review resident billing, census, Referral Fees, occupancy trends, labor expenses, and other key senior living metrics.
• Assist communities with financial questions, coding, and accounting compliance.

• Support annual financial audits and tax-related requests.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
• Assist with regulatory reporting and documentation requirements.
• Maintain organized accounting records and audit support files.

• Prepare monthly variance analyses and management reports.
• Monitor financial trends, occupancy, labor costs, agency staffing expenses, and community operating performance.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
• Provide recommendations to management based on financial results.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA designation preferred but not required.

• 4-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, multi-site operations, or real estate preferred.

• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial modeling.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
• Ability to analyze large data sets and identify financial trends.

• Apply strong analytical judgment to solve problems effectively.
• Maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Communicate clearly and build effective working relationships.
• Work independently while collaborating effectively with operations teams.
• Demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
