ResponsibilitiesAs a General Building Inspector/QCI, you will schedule, coordinate, perform, and document daily project field inspections of all work. You will submit recommendations to clients for approval or rejection of work in place, ensuring adherence to construction documents and contract requirements.
- Perform daily, quality‑focused inspections during project construction.
- Review equipment, materials, and workmanship.
- Review contractor quality and safety plans for adequacy, completeness, and code compliance.
- Monitor labor and safety conditions.
- Maintain inspection logs and take project photographs daily; prepare progress and final inspection reports for each inspection. Record defects and/or omissions.
- Report problems/deficiencies encountered in a timely manner.
- Maintain daily logs on required corrections and post status reports in contract folders on the share drive.
- Document all qualitative and quantitative differences between construction contract documents and actual work in place.
- Review planned vs. actual schedule status and keep the project manager informed of any schedule risk.
- Provide project inspections with Fire and Life Safety or Testing Service Contractor(s).
- Coordinate site inspections with client Environmental or Testing Service Contractor(s).
- Coordinate outages and assist contractors in obtaining any required work permits.
- A minimum of five (5) years of specialized experience in the work to be performed under this contract.
- Experience in preparing correspondence and maintaining official construction site records.
- Experience in conducting meetings to resolve problems on construction projects, and briefing clients and management personnel.
- In‑depth knowledge of construction practices and workmanship, including proper use of construction materials and installation methods.
- In‑depth experience in interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Ability to accurately calculate construction costs and time impacts for changes.
- Experience in making material take‑offs, pricing work, evaluating proposals and bills of materials, and negotiating equitable contract adjustments.
- Experience and ability in inspecting materials, workmanship, and construction and installation of various systems (e.g., fire alarm systems) within the inspector's area of expertise.
- Knowledge of safety practices in the construction industry, including familiarity with OSHA safety requirements on construction projects.
