GLY is seeking a Senior Preconstruction Engineer to join our Estimating & Preconstruction Team. This role plays a critical part in guiding design and construction planning to ensure alignment with budget, schedule, and client goals. You will collaborate with internal teams, design partners, and clients to deliver high-value outcomes and support the successful acquisition and execution of commercial construction projects.
Responsibilities- Guide design development to align with budget, schedule, procurement strategy, constructability, and client value.
- Perform detailed estimating and quantity surveys across all design phases.
- Engage subcontractors and understand self‑perform work scopes.
- Foster strong relationships and effective communication across teams.
- Contribute to departmental and corporate business planning.
- Monitor and report on industry trends to improve departmental processes.
- Support proposal development, interviews, and client engagement during pursuits.
- Set expectations for design deliverables to support milestone estimates.
- Collaborate on detailed design and preconstruction schedules.
- Coordinate subcontractor onboarding with design, permitting, and procurement timelines.
- Conduct thorough estimate reviews for accuracy, historical comparison, and documentation.
- Participate in construction logistics planning and risk evaluation.
- Ensure constructability reviews are completed and documented.
- Support project administration during design and preconstruction phases.
- Visit jobsites to gather lessons learned, analyze self‑perform productivity, and engage with trade partners.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in commercial construction estimating and project management.
- Proficiency in estimating, scheduling, and 3D modeling tools.
- Solid computer skills and familiarity with relevant software applications.
- Background in scheduling, site logistics, subcontractor management, procurement, budget and bid development, design, and field operations are highly desirable.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
GLY provides an excellent total rewards package and abundant opportunities for growth. The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $140,000.
