Position Objective
The position of Coordinator – Special Education Operations is for the purpose of providing administrative and logistical support for the Special Education Team, schools, and programs with a focus on the Special Education Services.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Supports the creation of the annual Special Education MSOC budget. Works collaboratively with the appropriate district staff to track and monitor department MSOC budget throughout the fiscal year.
- Establishes work priorities; keeps administrators informed of significant or important items requiring review or action.
- Coordinates with directors to develop and maintain contract work as required to implement Special Education services, including, but not limited to any required student/family services.
- Supports and coordinates nonpublic agency (NPA) Family Travel for out-of-state individualized education programs (IEPs).
- Oversees purchasing and invoicing for the Special Education Department.
- Maintains and supports special education record keeping including coordinating student record retention processes.
- Monitors department designated email for department correspondence internally and externally.
- Demonstrates customer service by being responsive and timely; exhibits a positive attitude and interacts with others in a kind and professional manner.
- Facilitates the District’s transition to a paperless record keeping system in the Special Education Department.
- Coordinates and organizes District responses for student services records requests and red actions as needed.
- Coordinates the purchases, distribution, and inventory for evaluation/protocol materials in the Special Education Department.
- Supports special education records compliance; receives, reviews and monitors paperwork in compliance with federal, state and district regulations; maintains records of missing compliance documentation and communicates with certificated staff to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Supports compliance with translations requests of Special Education documents when necessary.
- Composes and creates correspondence and reports; formats information; performs word processing; performs spreadsheet creation.
- Tracks the collection of data for staff incident/accident reports in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Tracks and organizes restraint and isolation reports.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Reports directly to and is supervised by the Executive Director of Inclusion and Accessibility.
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Two years’ administrative support experience
- Experience managing projects and tracking budgets
- Associates degree or equivalent in a professionally related field
- Previous district and school experience in administrative support roles
- Supervisory or equivalent experience
- Non-school experience may be substituted for school or district experience.

- Demonstrates a general understanding of the Strategic Plan as an area of focus for the District
- Understands basic financial and administrative procedures related to the position
- Ability to self-manage time and work priorities with little or no supervision
- Ability to work through conflict situations
- Possesses effective oral and written communication skills, including those required for the preparation of documents and presentations
- Demonstrates strong skills in writing, grammar, and punctuation
- Possesses skills in various computer software applications required for the position
- Demonstrates multicultural sensitivity with the ability to effectively and collaboratively work with diverse populations
- Ability to perform all duties in accordance with all applicable Board policies and district and legal requirements
- Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations
