A Talascend client in Bellevue, Washington is seeking an experienced Safety Analysis Engineer for a long-term contract role.
The Senior Safety Analysis Engineer is part of a growing team supporting the design and licensing of the demonstration reactor and is primarily responsible for performing design and licensing analyses and developing associated methodologies in the following areas:
- Analysis of design and licensing basis events
- Mechanistic source terms
- Radiological release and consequences
The Senior Safety Analysis Engineer may also contribute subject matter expertise to other projects under development by the Sodium-cooled Fast Reactor (SFR) Program. Other engineering activities include, but are not limited to, performing accident analyses, software qualification, hazard analysis, SSC classification, and verification and validation activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- M.S. or Ph.D. in nuclear engineering or relevant engineering degree with 15+ years of nuclear experience.
- Knowledge of nuclear systems, thermal-hydraulics, fuel performance, reactor dynamics, and transient phenomena.
- Experience with US NRC design and analysis methodology licensing reports.
- Experience with safety analysis codes such as SAS4A/SASSYS-1, GOTHIC, RELAP5, TRACE, MELCOR, MACCS, RADTRAD, or equivalents.
- Familiarity with nuclear design, regulatory requirements, and risk-informed performance-based guidance for Non-Light Water Reactors under RG 1.233.
- Knowledge of EMDAP and RG 1.203.
- Experience with SFR safety methods is highly desirable; experience with other reactor designs is a plus.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, modeling, and reporting skills.
- Understanding of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and ASME NQA-1 requirements, with experience in quality assurance.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication skills and integrity.
- Position level will depend on qualifications.
