VDC Engineer at Jacobs
We’re looking for an experienced Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Engineer to manage and optimize our digital delivery processes in the Advanced Manufacturing sector.
Base pay range$/yr - $/yr
Responsibilities- Provide VDC/BIM/Digital Delivery management and leadership by aligning technologies with internal and client goals, defining digital delivery scope for project estimates.
- Coordinate project technical setup and model deliverables.
- Create and implement Design and Construction BIM Execution Plans for EPCM.
- Integrate VDC tasks including 3D logistics and safety planning, 4D scheduling, 5D cost and quantity take‑offs.
- Administer and manage the Common Data Environment (Autodesk Construction Cloud) from design to construction.
- Lead clash detection and resolution meetings, serve as BIM Subject Matter Expert.
- Coordinate laser scan data integration and facilitate Scan to BIM efforts.
- Manage model redline and as‑built processes; verify construction install with model‑based practices.
- Lead mobile device trainings for field employees and facilitate reality capture / progress reporting.
- Provide on‑site leadership, coordinate VDC activities with field operations, and own onsite VDC processes.
- Collaborate with clients, representatives, and contractors during business development and proposals.
- Support team development by creating training materials and offering technical guidance.
- Recruit, manage, and mentor employees and enhance team expertise.
- At least 7 years of experience in VDC/BIM roles within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of BIM technologies and their application in manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in BIM software (Revit, Navisworks, Revizto) and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Experience with laser scanning and point cloud data management.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proven track record of onsite leadership of VDC activities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment on a project site and virtually.
- Experience in developing and implementing BIM execution plans.
- Strong understanding of construction processes and MEP systems.
- Willingness to work on site at a project near Baton Rouge, LA.
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
