TITLE:
Director of Engineering, TPI
LOCATION:
Bellevue & Everett, WA
The Terra Power Isotopes® (TPI™) division has been established to pursue medical isotopes development--advancing nuclear science for significant human health benefits. We seek to support revolutionary radiotherapies for treatments of various cancers through the supply of radioisotopes. Terra Power currently has unique access to a supply of thorium for the long‑term production of actinium‑225 in the growing alpha‑therapy market and intends to expand into other nuclear related medical treatments.
The Terra Power Isotopes (TPI) program is an integral part of the Washington State‑based Terra Power team, a company working to raise living standards globally. In 2006, the company originated with Bill Gates and a group of like‑minded visionaries who evaluated the fundamental challenges to raising living standards around the world. Terra Power’s mission is to be a world leader in new nuclear technologies, while developing innovators and future leaders in the nuclear field.
Terra Power is seeking to hire highly motivated and forward‑thinking professionals who are interested in focusing on advanced radiopharmaceutical applications and influencing change within nuclear medicine. Terra Power is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We do not discriminate in hiring on the basis of sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, color, religious creed, national origin, physical or mental disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law.
In addition, as a federal contractor, Terra Power has instituted an affirmative action plan (AAP) to proactively recruit, hire, and promote women, minorities, disabled persons and veterans.

Reporting to the President, TPI, the Director of Engineering will build and lead the team in the detailed design, equipment integration and commissioning of the new actinium‑225 production facility, capable of safely producing a cGMP product from challenging long‑lived alpha‑emitting radionuclides.
The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with experience relevant to the design of shielded hot cell containment systems, radiological transfer systems, radiological exhaust systems, and will have a demonstrated track record in delivery with cost and schedule adherence in major capital projects.
- Direct a team of engineering staff delivering full scope of design for new radioisotope production lines and cGMP radioisotope facilities.
- Oversee engineering quality, project delivery, continuous improvement, and corrective action response.
- Identify and ensure effective application of correct design codes into the design of facility and lab systems such as ASME, ASCE, ANS, ASPE, ASTM, IEEE, NFPA.
- Coordinate, lead and oversee assembly of technical packages for project design reviews, ensuring effective review processes and implementation of best engineering practices within a stage gate technical project management framework.
- Ensure complete delivery against requirements for broad scope of design work for complex radiological operations involving nuclear containments (hot cells and glove boxes), mechanical systems, transfer systems, and cGMP facility controls.
- Oversee quality of information from TPI Engineering team and communication of technical deliverable status, risks and issues to TPI project managers.
- Communicate effectively with TPI technology, operations, quality, and customer service teams, in addition to Terra Power Facilities, Safety and Radiation Safety Officers to collaboratively develop the full technical scope and to safely and efficiently deliver on project objectives.
