Electrical Design Engineer (Fuel Handling)
Duration: 4 month – contract (40hr/week)
Location: Remote
Summary- Perform the electrical design from requirements definition through final design release for fuel handling systems and equipment.
- Develop design deliverables including single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, cable schedules, grounding/bonding plans, instrumentation specifications, and interface control documents.
- Ensure effective integration of electrical systems with mechanical designs and plant infrastructure.
- Apply relevant codes and standards, including IEEE, NFPA, NEC, and nuclear-specific requirements such as IEEE 603, ASME NQA-1, and applicable NRC regulatory guidance.
- Support procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities, including vendor coordination and design change management.
- Participate in and lead design reviews, hazard analyses, and system readiness reviews.
- Support testing and verification activities, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
- Education:
B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering required; advanced degree preferred. - Minimum of 10 years of electrical design experience, with nuclear industry experience strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in electrical CAD tools and design documentation standards.
- Strong technical writing, documentation, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
- Experience with safety-related and non-safety-related system design under ASME NQA-1 quality programs.
- Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and applicable nuclear codes and standards.
- Motor Abilities:
Sitting and/or standing for extended periods, bending/stooping, grasping/gripping, fine motor control (hands) - Physical exertion:
Minimal, with ability to safely lift up to 25 pounds - Special Senses:
Visual and audio-focused work - Work
Conditions:
Stairs, typing/keyboard, standard and/or seated working environment for >8 hrs/day - Travel Required:
Up to 15% - Location:
