126 invites you to join as a Senior Thermal Scientist/Engineer. You will collaborate with a unique and gifted multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists engaged in a fast‑paced mission to deliver new consumer electronic products. The role involves balancing cost, schedule, and performance requirements, and requires an individual who thrives in an uncertain environment while leading by example and demonstrating technical competence and meticulousness.
Your deliverables will include the development of thermal solutions, concept design, feature development, product architecture, and system validation through to manufacturing release. You will support creative developments by applying advanced simulation and experimentation tools and techniques to complex electronic assemblies.
Key Job Responsibilities- Evaluate and optimize thermal solution requirements of consumer electronic products
- Use simulation tools like Star‑CCM+, Flo Therm XT/EFD for analysis and design of products
- Validate design modifications for thermal concerns using simulation and actual prototypes
- Establish temperature thresholds for user comfort and component reliability
- Apply in‑depth knowledge of materials and heat spreader solutions to resolve thermal issues
- Utilize programming languages such as Python and Matlab for analytical, statistical analysis and automation
- Collaborate with device teams to iterate and optimize design parameters of enclosures and structural parts, achieving project performance objectives
- Design and execute tests using statistical tools to validate analytical models, identify risks, and assess design margins
- Create and present analytical and experimental results to stakeholders
- Develop and apply design guidelines based on project learnings
- PhD or Master’s degree with 7+ years of industry or academic research experience
- 7+ years of experience using CFD thermal simulation software in consumer electronics
- 7+ years of experience with Star‑CCM+, Flo Therm XT/EFD or comparable tools
- Experience applying geometric tolerances and statistical tolerance analysis techniques
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Matlab for analytical/statistical analyses and automation
- Experience with manufacturing processes such as injection molding, sheet metal forming, die casting, Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
- Experience in mentoring, leading, and coaching teams
- Demonstrated design experience with consumer electronics enclosure materials
- PhD in mechanical engineering or a related field
- Knowledge of Creo Systems and other engineering tools for system modeling
- Proficiency in statistical analysis tools such as JMP and Relia Soft
- Willingness to travel internationally as required
