Job DescriptionPuget Sound Energy's Transmission & Asset Integration Group in the Trade Floor is looking for an Engineer III to join our team!
This position will primarily support the Resource Development Group. The ideal candidate manages transmission and interconnection analyses, studies, and requests in support of generation resource development to meet future clean energy and resource adequacy needs. The engineer will assess available transmission on BPA and other regional transmission systems, manage transmission requests for regional transmission, perform power flow studies, and implement strategy for optimizing transmission resources in PSE Merchant's portfolio.
Managing the submissions and technical reviews of interconnection Cluster Studies, Feasibility Studies, System Impact Studies, Facility Studies, and Large Generation Interconnection Agreements are also a key responsibility for this position.

Job Responsibilities- Provides subject matter expertise on FERC Open Access Transmission Tariffs and associated Business Practices
- Implements interconnection & transmission strategies to identify high value development sites for new generating resources
- Prepares and submits interconnection applications for new generation projects as well as surplus or repower interconnection requests for operating resources
- Manages, tracks, and reviews interconnection studies; coordinates implementation of Large Generator Interconnection Agreements (LGIAs) through to commercial operation
- Performs power flow studies in Power World to evaluate capacity on transmission systems for interconnection of new resources
- Prepares, submits, and tracks transmission service requests from studies to award
- Prepares interconnection and transmission documentation to include executive and Board approvals.
- Tracks regulatory policies including BPA rate case and tariff proceedings and Business Practice changes
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Bachelor of Science degree or PE license in electrical, mechanical, civil or other appropriate engineering field.
- Substantial experience in planning, design, specification preparation, technical field work, project cost estimating and scheduling (typically achieved after 5 or more years practice as a degreed engineer). Years of acquired experience is provided as a guide and alone does not constitute readiness for job level as individual's skill acquisition rates can vary significantly.
- Demonstrated organization, documentation, prioritization, and project management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Western Interconnection, BPA and Pacific Northwest energy policy issues, BPA transmission policies
- Understanding of the Pacific Northwest Regional transmission system
- Working knowledge and understanding of FERC generator interconnection/transmission processes and FERC Open Access Transmission Tariffs
- Understanding of merchant transmission portfolio in the context of renewable resource scheduling and transmission optimization
- Working knowledge of balancing authority and transmission system operations
- Experience using Power World powerflow software
- Possession of a Professional Engineering license
- Knowledge of engineering economics and utility accounting practices
- Experience working on complex engineering projects

The pay range for this position is $91,100.00-$, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
