HDR is seeking an experienced Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineer to lead engineering design tasks in fish hatcheries and aquaculture systems across the US and Canada. The role involves designing upstream and downstream fish collection facilities, fish passage, screening, acclimation facilities, and water treatment systems. Experience in related water resource projects is also valued. The position offers mentorship with nationally recognized engineers and biologists.
The preferred location is in Washington State (Seattle, Bellevue, Everett, Gig Harbor, Olympia, Pasco, Spokane), with flexible arrangements depending on experience.
Primary Responsibilities- Develop plans and specifications for fish hatcheries and aquaculture facilities.
- Design to meet industry standards and regulations, including engineering calculations, reports, and feasibility analyses.
- Communicate with stakeholders through meetings, presentations, and documentation.
- Analyze and design water supply, drainage, treatment, and related systems.
- Support cost estimates, guide CAD staff, and assist during construction.
- Contribute to project proposals and other duties as needed.
- 5-10 years of experience.
- Master’s degree in relevant engineering field.
- NCEES registration.
- Extensive experience with fish hatchery and aquaculture design.
- Experience with bio-security and RAS/PRAS systems.
- Proficiency with BIM software like Revit and Civil 3D.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience in civil engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
