OverviewWe’re seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our Ports & Maritime team in the Northwest Region of the Americas, focusing on landside infrastructure for port and marine terminal projects. This role will support the design and delivery of landside works for ports and marine terminals, including cargo storage areas, utilities, road connections, and associated facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Perform civil engineering design for landside infrastructure, including cargo storage areas, container yards, and intermodal connections.
- Design road networks, drainage systems, and utility services.
- Conduct site grading, pavement design, and stormwater management.
- Design wet/dry civil infrastructure (manholes, duct banks, etc.).
- Coordinate with structural, geotechnical, and marine engineers to ensure design integration.
- Prepare design calculations, drawings, and technical specifications in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Support design reviews, constructability assessments, and value engineering efforts.
- Assist in developing project scopes, schedules, and cost estimates for landside works.
- Provide technical input during construction phases, including responding to RFIs and reviewing submittals.
- Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout the design process.
- Utilize digital tools (CAD, BIM) for design production and collaborate with the digital delivery team.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and/or Hawaii.
- 5–10 years of experience in civil design for transportation or port-related infrastructure projects.
- Familiar with U.S. design codes and standards for civil works, permits and approval procedures.
- Experience with site development, utilities, and roadway design in seismic or challenging environments is a plus.
- Proficiency in civil design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Micro Station, or similar).
- Proficiency developing project specifications and bid packages.
- Strong communication and coordination skills for working with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience with civil works, wet and dry utilities, permits, grading in coastal environments, and pavement design.
- Knowledge of port operations and integration of landside facilities with marine terminals.
