MCFR Senior Process & Piping Design Engineer — Contract

System One is seeking a Senior Process & Piping Design Engineer to support the Molten Chloride Fast Reactor (MCFR) program with direct contributions to the Molten Chloride Reactor Experiment (MCRE). This role reports to the Deputy Manager of MCFR System Design and will focus on delivering process and piping design solutions that advance the MCFR program toward a commercial nuclear power reactor.

• Develop System Design Descriptions, Interface Control Documents, PFDs, and P&IDs to define system requirements.
• Design piping layouts, select materials, and perform stress analyses (Auto Pipe).
• Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, material lists, and vendor documents.
• Ensure compliance with codes and standards (ASME B31.1/B31.3, ANSI, ASTM, IEEE, NFPA, DOE, NRC).
• Collaborate with cross‑discipline teams (thermal hydraulics, I&C, mechanical, construction).
• Conduct reviews of supplier designs, deliverables, and performance.
• Support design quality through inspections, audits, and testing.

• B.S. in Mechanical or related discipline with 12 years of experience in industrial mechanical systems.
• Proven experience in piping design and analysis (Auto Pipe or Caesar).
• Proficiency with CAD tools (Solid Works, AutoCAD).
• Knowledge of valves, fittings, supports, and piping materials.
• Experience with high‑temperature and multi‑discipline integration (preferred).
• Background in nuclear reactor or process system design (highly desired).
• Familiarity with design quality standards (ASME NQA‑1, ISO 9001).
• Strong technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
• Self‑starter capable of managing competing objectives and working independently.
