Position: Mechanical Stress Analysis Engineer (RES)

Reactor Enclosure System (RES) Mechanical Stress Analysis Engineer – Contract

Location: Remote
Pay Rate: $52–$85 per hour
Contract Length: 6-month contract with possible extension

Position Overview

System One is seeking an experienced Reactor Enclosure System (RES) Mechanical Stress Analysis Engineer to support advanced nuclear reactor design activities. This contract role focuses on performing detailed mechanical and thermal stress analyses for nuclear components, including fatigue, creep, and creep‑fatigue evaluations, in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code requirements.

The successful candidate will work closely with component design leads and analysis engineers, providing technical insight to support design optimization and verification activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical and thermal stress analyses, including fatigue, creep, and creep‑fatigue evaluations
  • Conduct structural joint configuration evaluations and optimization using established analysis models and methods
  • Perform non‑record analyses to evaluate design alternatives and assess potential configuration changes
  • Support component design teams by analyzing specific mechanical issues and providing actionable feedback
  • Perform and support preparation and design verification analyses in accordance with ASME BPVC Section III, Division 1 and Division 5 (HBB, HGB, NF)
  • Utilize existing System One analysis tools, models, and methodologies
  • Complete qualification and indoctrination to the applicable quality program to support preparation and verification activities
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university
  • 5–10 years of relevant mechanical stress analysis experience
  • Demonstrated expertise with ASME BPVC Section III, Division 1, including high‑temperature applications
  • Experience with creep, fatigue, and creep‑fatigue analysis methods
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
