Medical Technologist (0.8 FTE / Days) – Overlake Medical Center & Clinics

$38.06 - $57.09 per hour (Hourly)

Part‑time / days – 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week)
Responsibilities
Responsible for performing and evaluating laboratory tests, establishing and modifying laboratory procedures, evaluating laboratory data for quality and accuracy, and performing related diagnostic testing tasks. These tasks include inventory management, specimen collection, quality control and assurance, training, proficiency testing, reagent and instrument preparation, problem solving, instrument maintenance, and troubleshooting. Provide oversight for the work of the MLT employees.
Qualifications – Medical Technologist
• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or the Biological Sciences. If applicable, evidence of foreign degree equivalency is required.
• Minimum of one year experience in a hospital‑based lab as a generalist or specialist is preferred.
• Experience with laboratory information systems and automated interface instruments. Good customer service, technical, and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
Professional Licensure / Certification / Registration – Medical Technologist
One of the following certifications is required:
- American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) – Medical Technologist (MT)
- American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) – Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
- National Certification Agency (NCA) – Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)
- Medical Laboratory Technologist, CSMLS, Canada
- American Medical Technologists (AMT) – Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
- Single certification such as hematology (H‑ASCP), chemistry (C‑ASCP), microbiology (M‑ASCP), or molecular biology (MB‑ASCP)
Qualifications – Medical Lab Technician
• Associate degree from a community college in Medical Laboratory Science, or 90 quarter hours/60 semester hours of a military training program in Medical Laboratory Science.
• NAACS accredited MLT program preferred; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• One year of experience in a hospital‑based lab preferred; laboratory generalist preferred.
Professional Licensure / Certification / Registration – Medical Lab Technician
One of the following certifications required within six months of hire date:
- American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) – Medical Laboratory Technician/Clinical Laboratory Technician
- American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) – Medical Laboratory Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist
- American Association of Bioanalysts – with bachelor’s degree in science and MLT certification
- National Certification Agency (NCA) – Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT)
- Medical Laboratory Technologist, NBMLT, Canada
