PRN Behavioral Health Associate – Overnight/Graveyard
Location: Spokane, Washington
Schedule: 11:00 pm – 7:30 am (overnight)
Pay: $19.00–$23.00 per hour (PRN – Pick‑Up Only)
Job Summary: The Behavioral Health Associate I serves as an integral part of the multidisciplinary treatment team, monitoring and reporting client behavior, providing continuous client care and supervision, assisting in data collection and crisis response, and maintaining a safe and structured environment during overnight shifts.
Roles and Responsibilities- Ensure client wellbeing by maintaining a safe, positive, supportive, and structured environment.
- Conduct safety checks and supervise clients at intervals according to individualized guidelines.
- Check clients for contraband and manage client valuables and belongings.
- Interact with clients, observe behaviors, and communicate significant observations to supervisors.
- Promote participation in recreational activities and educate clients in social skills, coping, anger management, and independent living.
- Take and record vital signs, communicating changes to the charge nurse.
- Document client records accurately and in a timely manner.
- Use de‑escalation techniques to manage client emotions, behavior, and treatment participation.
- Assist with unit cleaning, chart organization, and the discharge process.
- Provide or coordinate transportation for clients as needed.
- Deliver verbal reports/briefings to the incoming shift.
- Orient new clients to staff, programs, and activities, encouraging participation.
- Motivate clients toward beneficial activities and monitor interest levels.
- Offer novel activity ideas and support recreational program planning.
- Set up equipment for recreational activities and supply necessary resources.
- Enforce safety rules, modifying activities for specific groups.
- Help develop and maintain departmental resources, monitoring equipment and supplies.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Six months or more of experience with the population served (preferred).
- Knowledge of common psychiatric disorders and/or dual diagnosis, and familiarity with treatment modalities (preferred).
- CPR and de‑escalation certification required (training available upon hire).
- First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
