Job Summary:

Provide CT and Diagnostic X-ray imaging services to patients in accordance with physicians' orders. Ensure patient safety and provide high-quality testing. Prepare rooms and equipment. Perform testing, operate equipment according to prescribed safety standards, and process images. Exercise professional judgment and uphold medical ethics in performance of diagnostic services. Apply knowledge of growth and development principles to identify patient and family requirements for age-specific patients, including geriatrics, adults, adolescents, and pediatrics.

Maintain strict patient and staff confidentiality. Adhere to sterile techniques. Occasionally perform duties outside of the outlined responsibilities within your professional scope of practice, as assigned. May require heavy lifting.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Diagnostic Testing: Perform quality images using protocols and proper positioning, respecting patient comfort. Demonstrate knowledge of cross-section imaging. Evaluate images for technical quality and proper identification. Provide services to all age groups, offering patient education tailored to age-specific needs. Address patient concerns to facilitate cooperation and reduce anxiety. Verify procedures against physician orders and outpatient prescriptions, contacting physicians for discrepancies. Understand contrast agents and prepare contrast media as needed.

    Document procedures properly and assist with procedures when necessary.
  • Customer Service: Deliver timely, responsive, and friendly service to patients, physicians, and colleagues. Keep patients informed about delays and procedures. Promote patient-focused care. Ensure confidentiality. Communicate results to patients appropriately.
  • Patient and Employee Safety: Maintain safe radiation levels, perform equipment checks, and adhere to safety protocols. Ensure patient identification accuracy and prevent repeat studies. Monitor patients during procedures and respond to any changes or reactions promptly. Follow departmental IV protocols and demonstrate rapid response to contrast reactions.
  • General Behavior: Arrive prepared for shifts, maintain a neat environment, participate in policy development, and communicate concerns effectively. Work collaboratively with team members, rotate shifts and assignments, and respond to call-backs as required. Follow all safety and OSHA policies.
  • Information System: Accurately enter patient information into the departmental computer system, select current accounts, and complete patient procedures as directed in RIS.
