Slung.ai is an AI-native company building the definitive financial intelligence platform for commercial real estate, an industry that runs on unstructured data. Our platform ingests complex financial statements and uses AI to provide property owners with a clear, actionable strategy to improve the financial health of their properties.

Backed by a ~$1M pre‑seed round, we are a small, ambitious team of experts from Harvard, Princeton, and Notre Dame with deep experience in both real estate and technology.

We are building a generational company, and we are looking for a world‑class engineer to join us in person at our Bellevue headquarters. As our Data & ML Engineer, you will be a cornerstone of our engineering team, working alongside our CTO to build the core intelligence of the Slung.ai platform.

This role is a unique blend of Data Scientist, Software Engineer, and Machine Learning Engineer, requiring a strong background in leading the development and implementation of ML systems. You will own the foundational architectural decisions that define the future of our platform. Your primary mission will be to own the development and deployment of our proprietary benchmarking models and build a robust and secure backend.

• Design, train, and deploy the core models that power Slung.ai’s benchmarking and insight engine.
• Collaborate with the CTO to refine algorithms, improve model performance, and expand our proprietary data moat.
• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines to ingest, clean, and normalize financial data from unstructured sources.
• Develop internal data tools and infrastructure to ensure accuracy, reliability, and security across large datasets.
• Architect, build, and maintain secure, high-performance backend services using Python and Flask.
• Implement SOC 2 compliant security protocols to protect sensitive financial data and ensure user trust.
• Develop and document robust APIs to power both internal systems and customer-facing applications.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 2+ years of experience delivering customer-facing ML or AI products at scale.
• Comfortable solving hard, ambiguous problems and shipping elegant, reliable systems.
• Committed to writing clean, maintainable code from day one.
• Curious, growth-oriented, and energized by fast-paced environments.

• Experience leading a cloud migration (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
• Expert-level ability in one or more of the following: time series forecasting, NLP, classical ML, or deep learning.
• Proven skill translating complex business problems into data-driven, machine learning solutions.
• Experience in early-stage startups or AI-native environments.
