The Nuclear Company is the fastest growing startup in the nuclear and energy space creating a never-before-seen fleet-scale approach to building nuclear reactors. Through its design-once, build-many approach and coalition building across communities, regulators, and financial stakeholders, The Nuclear Company is committed to delivering safe and reliable electricity at the lowest cost, while catalyzing the nuclear industry toward rapid development in America and globally.

About the role:

The Nuclear Company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Analytics Engineer to join our growing data team. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact by transforming complex data into actionable intelligence within a critical and highly regulated industry.

As a Senior Analytics Engineer, you will be a key contributor to our data team, responsible for designing, building, and optimizing sophisticated analytical solutions and data pipelines that empower decision-making across all facets of our nuclear energy operations. You will bridge the gap between raw data and business insights, focusing on data modeling, transformation, and visualization, while upholding the highest standards of data integrity, security, and regulatory compliance.

You will work independently on complex projects and provide technical guidance to more junior team members.

Responsibilities:

End-to-End Analytical Solution Development:

  • Design, develop, and implement robust and scalable data models and analytical solutions that support critical business functions (e.g., operations, engineering, maintenance, finance, regulatory affairs).
  • Translate complex business questions and requirements into technical specifications for data acquisition, transformation, and reporting.
  • Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines to ensure efficient and reliable data flow from diverse sources, including operational technology (OT) systems, enterprise applications, and external datasets.

Advanced Data Modeling & Transformation:

  • Lead the design and implementation of sophisticated data models in data warehouses/lakes, optimizing for performance, scalability, and ease of consumption by analytics tools and data scientists.
  • Perform complex data transformations, aggregations, and feature engineering to prepare data for advanced analytics, machine learning, and reporting.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and accuracy across all analytical datasets.
  • Develop and maintain advanced dashboards and interactive reports using leading business intelligence tools, enabling stakeholders to monitor KPIs, identify trends, and derive insights.
  • Collaborate with business users to refine reporting requirements and ensure solutions provide maximum value.

Data Governance & Compliance:

  • Implement and enforce data governance policies and best practices within analytical workflows, ensuring data integrity, security, and auditability.
  • Ensure all data solutions comply with relevant nuclear industry regulations (e.g., NRC guidelines) and internal quality assurance programs.
  • Champion data literacy and responsible data usage across the organization.

Technical Guidance & Mentorship:

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior analytics engineers, fostering their growth and ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to the continuous improvement of data engineering processes.
  • Work closely with data scientists, principal/senior data engineers, software developers, and business leaders to understand complex data needs and deliver impactful solutions.
  • Clearly communicate technical concepts and analytical findings to non-technical stakeholders.

Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in data analytics, data engineering, or a similar role focused on building analytical solutions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in SQL for complex data manipulation and querying.
  • Strong programming skills in Python (or R) for data analysis, transformation, and automation.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing data models for analytical purposes (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema).
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their data services (e.g., Snowflake, Big Query, Redshift, Azure Synapse Analytics).
  • Experience with a leading Business Intelligence tool (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
