The Amazon Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) Data Services organization develops datasets to train and evaluate Amazon AI models. Senior Language Engineers support complex multimodal dataset development using synthetic, model-supported, and human-in-the-loop approaches.

• Define and lead data creation strategies for science partners.
• Design and lead complex data collections with human participants, author instructions, quality targets, and coordination of efforts.
• Design and conduct data creation tasks using synthetic and model-based methods following state-of-the-art approaches.
• Analyze and extract insights from large amounts of data.
• Build tools or prototypes for data analysis or creation using Python or another scripting language.
• Use modeling tools to bootstrap or test new AI functionalities.
• Collaborate with scientists, software engineers, and other data creators to evaluate performance of AI models.

• Master's degree in a relevant field (Computational Linguistics or equivalent with computational analysis).

• PhD in Computational Linguistics (or equivalent with computational emphasis).
• 5+ years creating AI datasets for evolving requirements using model-based, human-in-the-loop, synthetic/code-based methods.
• 5+ years working with speech, text, and multimodal data, including multiple languages.
• 5+ years defining and leading cross-team data creation strategies for long-term science customers.
• 5+ years of experience with Machine Learning training and evaluations, specifically regarding the types of data needed for different training types.
• Familiarity with APIs, version control, agile development, database queries, and data analysis processes (SQL, R, Matlab, etc.).

Base pay ranges from $84,000/year in the lowest market to $185,000/year in the highest market. Additional equity, sign-on payments, and benefits may be provided.
