The Manufacturing Production Supervisor II plays a critical leadership role in a high‑volume, fast‑paced food manufacturing facility. This position oversees production workers, ensures compliance with quality and safety standards, drives operational efficiency, and meets on‑time delivery goals. The supervisor also supports warehouse functions including shipping and receiving, working cross‑functionally to maximize plant performance and deliver consistent, high‑quality products.
This role requires strong leadership skills, production floor experience, and the ability to oversee a diverse, unionized workforce. The supervisor works closely with production, quality, warehouse, and maintenance teams to maintain operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities Production Leadership (80%)- Lead, coach, and supervise production workers in a 24/7 food manufacturing environment.
- Oversee daily operations including scheduling, task assignment, efficiency monitoring, and real‑time troubleshooting.
- Ensure production of safe, high‑quality food products in compliance with Federal, State, and Safeway (Albertsons) regulations.
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing principles to improve production efficiencies and eliminate waste.
- Develop and drive short‑term and long‑term plant goals and production action plans.
- Promote cost‑saving initiatives and process/efficiency improvements.
- Overlap responsibilities with warehouse operations.
- Assist with receiving, staging, inventory movement, and outbound shipments.
- Support alignment between production output and warehouse logistics.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, FDA, USDA, HACCP, and other applicable regulations.
- Ensure adherence to facility safety standards and promote a strong safety culture.
- Support audits and compliance reviews as required.
- Work closely with Quality, Warehouse, Maintenance, and plant leadership to solve operational challenges.
- Foster a work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, respect, and continuous improvement.
- Communicate performance expectations and provide coaching and development to employees.
- Utilize Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other plant applications to track, monitor, and report on production metrics.
- Leverage new technology and automation to optimize plant efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree preferred (manager will consider relevant work experience in place of degree).
- Minimum 2+ years of leadership/supervisory experience in a production environment.
- 1+ year of Lean Manufacturing experience required.
- Food manufacturing experience highly preferred.
- Experience leading a unionized workforce strongly preferred.
- Strong ability to manage, coach, and develop employees.
- Must be willing to work scheduled hours, including weekends.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; ability to learn additional systems/applications.
