The Bellevue Milk Plant, located in Bellevue, Washington, has an opening for a Maintenance Engineer.
Shift & Union- Swing shift: 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm.
- Full‑time union position – required to join Operating Engineers Union Local 302.

Job DescriptionThe Maintenance Engineer is responsible for performing and/or overseeing preventive maintenance on equipment. Responsibilities include completing daily preventive maintenance (PM) work orders, scheduled repair work orders, unscheduled emergency repairs, and project work associated with the operation of a production and warehouse facility.
Responsibilities- Perform all needed maintenance functions in support of Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) initiative and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) programs.
- Accurately complete work order documents and summary reports.
- Perform emergency repairs as needed.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance tasks.
- Participate in continuous improvement processes.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of maintenance and product support areas.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for maintenance processes.
- Perform data entry and execute transactions using Safeway computer applications.
- Comply with government regulations.
- Manage relationships with internal and external customers.
- Work safely following all documented state and federal safety requirements.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of a world‑class manufacturing environment.
- Ensure equipment maintenance supports maximum production at the lowest cost and highest quality.
- Resolve equipment malfunctions by evaluating performance breakdowns, identifying root causes, and taking corrective action.
- Ensure compliance with GMPs and safety policies while planning and completing projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate daily activities.
- Ability to maximize productivity and minimize waste.
- Willingness to work safely and promote a safe working environment.
- Effective communication, both oral and written.
- Computer skills (basic computer knowledge).
- Working knowledge of PLC controls (helpful).
- Knowledge of electrical systems including 110‑480 V AC & DC.
- Working knowledge of hydraulic, plumbing and pneumatic systems.
- Knowledge of refrigeration systems (ammonia preferred).
- Welding (TIG, MIG, Stick, etc.) – helpful.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Licensing and regulatory compliance in accordance with Washington State Law.
- Forklift and pallet‑jack certification – helpful.
- Knowledge of plant mechanical processes sufficient to analyze performance trends.
- Willingness to learn multiple tasks and work in a cross‑functional environment.
- Team player.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs above the waist 10 times per day.
- Significant bending and stooping.
- Exposure to heights (may be elevated 40 ft on lift equipment).
- Willingness to work extended or any scheduled work hours.
- Exposure to extreme temperature changes (hot and cold).
- Exposure to loud noises, allergens and moving mechanical parts.
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
