Produce Supervisor – Role Overview
Reporting to the Produce Department Manager and supervised by the Produce Department Manager and/or Produce Department Head and/or their delegate, you play an important role in maintaining the smooth operation of the Produce Department. You will support the daily activities and offer guidance to junior team members, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to departmental standards.
T&T Supermarkets is celebrating over 30 years as Canada’s favorite Asian grocery store and has recently opened its first U.S. flagship store in Bellevue, Washington. The store spans 76,000 sqft and is the largest Asian specialty supermarket in Washington state.
Responsibilities- Ensure quality control during receiving, manage inventory and product quality of all products, implement FIFO concept, maintain full product display.
- Execute procedures for handling expired products and effectively manage shrinkage to minimize loss.
- Assist in the design of the promotional produce display and adjustment.
- Deliver exceptional customer service with a welcoming smile, greeting and assisting customers enthusiastically, friendly, and courteously.
- Assist customers in product selection and offer recommendations as required to enhance their shopping experience.
- Address customer complaints promptly, fostering positive relationships through attentive service and genuine engagement.
- Provide guidance and supervision to junior team members, provide feedback on staff performance, assist in staff training and development within the department.
- Lead by example, demonstrating proficiency in all assigned duties and setting a standard for excellence.
- Prepare various produce for sales activities, including but not limited to sort, cut, wash, weigh, pack and label various produce products and display them in the display cases.
- Maintain workplace cleanliness and upkeep of work tools to ensure a hygienic and organized environment.
- Familiar oneself with the location of various produce items and stay informed about departmental promotions to better assist customers.
- Fulfill any additional responsibilities as assigned by superiors, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the department.
- Willing to work flexible shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and statutory holidays.
- Able to stand for extended periods to handle products, regularly moving and lifting items weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Not allergic in handling produce products.
- Able to work in low temperature environment (0-4 °C) regularly.
- Basic computer skills in MS Office.
- Familiar with relevant tools and equipment, able to interpret product labels.
- Able to communicate in English; proficiency in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety protocols.
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
- Demonstrated commitment, accountability, and reliability in previous roles.
- A good team player, capable of collaborating with and assisting colleagues.
- Good organization, problem-solving, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
