HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Responsibilities
- Must be willing to work overtime on weekends, holidays, and after hours when on call.
- Make daily mechanical checks on equipment in the Mechanical Room, Roof, HVAC, EMS systems, refrigerated cases, and walk-ins.
- Maintain all refrigeration, HVAC, EMS systems, electrical, and mechanical systems, and make necessary repairs.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks, leak checks, inspections, record required information, and maintain jurisdictional records, EPA forms, and required documentation in both paper format and electronically in Corrigo and Trakref.
- Monitor preventative maintenance work done by outside contractors and notify Area Refrigeration Manager of issues or problems with outside contractors.
- Troubleshoot refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical problems, perform repairs, document solutions, and recommend further action.
- Manage communications for service calls in a timely manner as required.
- Operate EMS building controls and automation systems—fine‑tune operating parameters, adjust setpoints and schedules, fully understand and modify building control sequences and operate EMS/BMS systems.
- Perform a variety of administrative tasks such as ordering material, writing purchase orders, and data entry for work reports and refrigerant leak reports via company‑supplied electronics.
- Maintain a high technical level in troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Maintain current license, inspection, permit, and certificate requirements to meet all state and local codes.
- Perform all duties in a timely, efficient, and professional manner.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and safe work area in mechanical room, roof, service vehicle, etc.
Education Level: High School diploma or equivalent;
Graduate of Refrigeration/Mechanical school or completion of a minimum of three years apprenticeship.
Experience Level: Minimum of three years in Grocery Refrigeration and HVAC related work.
Skills and Experiences- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Perform duties with a high degree of accuracy and care to avoid mechanical breakdowns.
- Respond to direct and radio requests as promptly as possible.
- Maintain a proper neat uniform appearance of company‑provided work shirt and employee‑provided clean blue jeans without holes or tears.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment, including arc flash and safety glasses.
- Computer literate.
- Valid driver’s license.
- EPA Section 608 Universal Certification.
- Read and comprehend manuals, prints, and work orders.
- Knowledge of tools and equipment maintenance.
- General record‑keeping skills.
- Customer service orientation and sensitivity to diverse needs of coworkers, employees, and other persons contacted in the daily course of work.
- Work independently.
- Work performed in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Perform manual labor; use various trade tools and office equipment.
- Stooping, bending, twisting, lifting, and reaching required.
The pay range is $50.00 to $62.00 per hour, but less than the local minimum wage. Starting rates will vary based on location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Travel Requirements100% based on assigned geographical area.
