Sr. System Development Engineer, Automation Integration Technologies

We are looking for a Sr. System Development Engineer with a passion for developing embedded industrial software and control systems to transform the way we integrate robotics within our global network of advanced warehouses. This position is a unique opportunity to be involved in a wide range of automation projects right from the start. You will interface with multiple internal Amazon R&D and design teams as well as the world’s leading automation strategic partners who have the technology and resources to meet Amazon’s growth needs on a global scale.

• Design, develop, and maintain control software applications for mechatronic systems using modern software development practices, including CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops methodologies.
• Implement automated testing frameworks and deployment strategies to ensure code quality, reliability, and seamless integration of control systems software.
• Develop and optimize motion control algorithms, embedded programs, and real-time control systems for industrial automation.
• Drive operational excellence through monitoring, analysis, and continuous improvement of software performance metrics and system reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process improvements and troubleshoot issues with mechatronic systems.
• 30% travel expected to support onsite system testing.

• 6+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 4+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems.
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Experience deploying and supporting mechatronic systems.

• Experience with TwinCAT or Codesys.
• Knowledge of industrial fieldbus protocols such as Profinet, Ether Net/IP, Ether
  
  CAT.
• Experience with multiple Industrial Control System platforms such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Fanuc.
• Experience influencing engineering best practices within your team.
• Ability to travel up to 30% and eligible for international travel.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
