We are looking for a skilled engineer to design and build self‑service tools that help software development teams publish code tools support multiple workflows, plug into various services across Amazon, and scale as workloads increase. The team owns feature development, performance, scalability, and excellence on all our tools. You will work directly with our customers to balance changes and feature requests with performance and stability.
Scopeof Work
As a senior member of the team, you’ll lead the architecture and optimization of our build tooling and CI/CD infrastructure that powers more than a dozen product lines. You’ll work directly with customers across the organization, proposing and implementing self‑service tools to enable software development teams to publish code at scale and speed. The solutions you develop will power one of the largest build fleets at Amazon and will impact the productivity of hundreds of developers.
OurTeam
We are a team of experienced engineers in the Device OS org who own the build and release infrastructure, as well as developer experience self‑service tools that cater to the rest of our OS and application developer community. Our engineers come from backgrounds ranging from SCM and Dev Ops to expertise in AWS technology stacks, Yocto, build tool chains, and productivity tools.
The OS and application developers are our customers, and our roadmap is driven by improving their development experience.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of key features.
- Work with other team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility.
- Drive your own projects from design through planning to execution. Also work with teams across Amazon on cross‑team initiatives.
- Plan and coordinate feature improvements and upgrades around services.
- Improve the user experience around services.
- Analyze and improve availability, efficiency, capacity, scalability, security, and performance of our services.
- Represent Systems while working with internal teams and external partners.
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems with production systems as part of our on‑call rotation.
- Develop and maintain tools.
- 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
- 1+ year of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
- 1+ year of designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, multi‑threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
- 1+ year of Object Oriented Design experience.
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
