Head Coach, Girls Water Polo 2025-26, Sammamish High School

Position

Purpose:

The Head Coach is responsible for ensuring that all assistants (contracted or volunteer) and the Head Coach themselves understand the rules of the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA), the KINGCO Conference, and Bellevue School District policies.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Has responsibility and leadership for overall supervision of the program at all levels.
  • Organizes the program to align with district and school philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Strives to build good sportsmanship and develop positive public relations in the school and community.
  • Follows all rules, policies and procedures of the league, district, and school.
  • Prepares public information releases regarding the sport.
  • Complies with the WIAA coaching clock hour program.
  • Keeps abreast of new knowledge, ideas and techniques related to the sport.
  • Assists the Athletic Director in scheduling events for the sport.
  • Manages the budget for the sport and follows rules and procedures for expenditures and revenues.
  • Conducts practice sessions within the agreed-upon times.
  • Supervises the locker room during practice and events.
  • Maintains records for the Athletic Director and/or principal.
  • Attends all district and league meetings relevant to the sport.
  • Ensures the general health, welfare and safety of athletes.
  • Communicates safety procedures to assistants, athletes and parents.

    Administers a student interest survey/evaluation at season’s end and reports results.
  • Writes an annual report evaluating the program and recommends improvements.
  • Conducts & files Assistant Coach evaluations.
  • Assigns duties of assistant coaches and ensures adherence to rules, procedures and policies.
  • Maintains and inventories equipment and ensures proper use of school facilities.
  • Directs practice sessions and dressing room facilities whenever they are in use.
  • Rides the bus to/from events and follows travel rules.
Reporting Relationships
  • Reports to the Athletic Director.
Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Hold a current First Aid and CPR card; proof must be provided before job offer.
Licensing Requirements
  • None.
Physical Requirements

Positions may require stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. This may include exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. May work outdoors in inclement weather and require mobility across campus.

Conditions Of Employment

2025-26 Athletic Salary

Schedule:

$6,090 for the season. Not eligible for benefits.
